Our Voice for Nanango

Introducing Jason Miles

Meet Jason Miles, a passionate community leader running for the Seat of Nanango in this year’s Queensland State election to be held 26th October. Jason has held many diverse roles in his working career and private life, and he is deeply committed to fostering positive change both in the region and in people.

Jason ran in the 2022 Federal Election for the Queensland Senate and that experience convinced Jason that Australia and Australians need political reform as the current two-party preferred system has run it course. Now more than ever, Australians have never done it harder. We need a transformation in State and Federal politics, advocating for leaders who genuinely champion the interests of the people and our nation, and not a political party.

My vision for the Nanango electorate is straightforward: to be the voice of the people in the State parliament, and collaborate closely with local councils to deliver on the community needs. The region is in need of urgent attention from our roads, healthcare, water, housing, and energy solutions that are safe, affordable, reliable, and don’t destroy our natural landscapes and our agricultural industry.

If you are looking for a genuine alternative to change the face of Australia, and to have less government, not more, then please consider throwing your support behind Jason as the next Member of the Legislative Assembly for the Nanango electorate.

Key Focus Areas for Nanango

Power plant using renewable solar energy with sun

Pause Renewables Rollout

Let's rethink Renewables. All Australians deserve access to an electricity supply which is secure and reliable. Where costs are affordable and competitive and not heavily subsidised by taxpayer. Where adverse impacts on regional and rural communities, food security, and the natural environment is minimised.

The people of the Nanango electorate have overwhealmingly said we need to pause and review the energy policy. And we need to keep coal functional until such time as we have a stable, affordable and secure baseload of power.

Fix our Roads and Bridges

It needs to allow greater access to B-Doubles and school buses that carry our most important assets; our kids. The urgent need to upgrade our region's roads cannot be overstated, as many currently fall short of government standards. Substandard roads not only compromise safety, but also hinder economic development and access to essential services. Investing in road upgrades is crucial to ensuring smoother travel, fostering economic growth, and enhancing the overall quality of life for our community.

Bring Doctors to the Region

Improving healthcare in our region is imperative, with a focus on addressing chronic health conditions through enhanced education and access to experienced doctors. By prioritising preventive measures and providing comprehensive education, we can empower individuals to take control of their health. Additionally, attracting and retaining skilled medical professionals will ensure that our community receives the high-quality care it deserves.

Fund the Tick Line

The agriculture farmers in our electorate have lost all confidence in the state governments. The tick line is a clear instance of the government placing its desires above the interests of the community. Keep ticks, fire ants, and noxious weeds under control cannot fall back on to the already over-burdened farmer. DPI has lost funding and responsibility for the management of ticks in our region. When did centralisation of such an important function make sense to anyone but the bureaucrats? I will seek funding for a community-led solution to maintain a tick-free environment and safeguard the well-being of livestock.

Fix Homelessness

More Australians are homeless now than in any other time in our history, reaching unprecedented levels. Why has a country as resource-rich as Australia ended up here? When did this start and why? The answer is Labor and LNP policy. The sum of all parts that is homelessness comes from Labor and LNP policy. Some directly impact homelessness and others indirectly impacted homelessness. What is certain is that Aussies more than ever need a hand up. What we do not need is politicians putting the wants of other countries ahead of the needs of Australians. Yet that is exactly what they continue to do.

Addressing Crime

Addressing Crime

The first thing that needs to happen in our region is to staff the police to correct levels. Kingaroy is at almost 50% of where it was and needs to be. Police have become full-time domestic violence officers, often spending entire days in writing reports and dealing with offenders. There is so much wrong with this scenario and it is not just about funding police, but that is a start.

Keep Cash Alive

The World Economic Forum, the International Bank of Settlements, the International Monetary Fund, the United Nations and other institutions have highlighted the increasing frequency and severity of cyber-attacks as a major global risk. This again played out in mid-July when ‘Crowdstrike’ brought most of the entire world’s digital systems to a halt. These institutions have noted that cyber- attacks are becoming more sophisticated and disruptive, affecting both public and private sectors.

Why an Independent?

Why an Independent?

Like many Australians, I initially paid little attention to politics until personal experiences with government overreach and excessive regulations and continually over-taxed ignited my frustration. I discovered that since the end of the Menzies era, both Labor and the LNP have driven Australia towards economic decline through poor policies and privatization. This has resulted in overwhelming legislation, ballooning debt, and a struggling middle-to-lower income class. Realizing that complacency is not an option, I decided to run as an Independent and represent disenfranchised Australians.

Improve Our Water

Water quality is essential for the health, well-being, and economic stability of our community, yet in some parts of our region, we continue to be plagued with poor water quality. This leads to serious health issues, environmental degradation, and reduced quality of life. This is Australia and Australians deserve much more.
